Why Does Facebook Pixel Track All Purchases Instead of Only Facebook Ad Purchases?
This behavior is completely normal.
The Facebook Pixel is designed to track all purchase events that occur on your website, regardless of where the visitor came from. This means it will record purchases from:
- Facebook ads
- Google ads
- Organic search
- Direct visits
- Email campaigns
- Any other traffic sources
The pixel’s role is simply to record the purchase event on your store.
Facebook then uses its attribution system inside Facebook Ads Manager to determine which purchases were generated from your Facebook ads.
So even though the pixel records all purchases, Facebook Ads Manager will only attribute conversions to ads when a user interacted with a Facebook ad before purchasing.
TikTok Conversion API / Server-Side Tracking
Question
Does Pixee support TikTok Conversion API or server-side tracking?
Answer
Currently, Pixee does not support TikTok server-side tracking (Conversion API).
Because of this, there is no option to add a TikTok Conversion API token or access token inside the app.
Pixee currently supports TikTok Pixel tracking using the Pixel ID only, which works through browser-based tracking.
How TikTok Pixel Works in Pixee
To set up TikTok tracking in Pixee, you only need the TikTok Pixel ID.
Setup Steps
- Go to TikTok Ads Manager
- Navigate to Assets → Events
- Copy your TikTok Pixel ID
- Open the Pixee app in Shopify
- Go to TikTok Pixel settings
- Enter your Pixel ID and save
Once connected, Pixee will track supported events using the TikTok Pixel.
Important Note
Since TikTok Conversion API (server-side tracking) is not supported in Pixee, you will not see options for:
- Access Token
- Conversion API Token
- Server-side TikTok tracking
This is expected behavior.
Facebook Says My Pixel Is Not Active. What Should I Do?
If you see a message in Facebook Ads Manager saying that your Meta Pixel is “not active”, this is normal for a newly created pixel.
A pixel will remain inactive until it receives its first event from your website.
Why This Happens
When a pixel is newly installed, Facebook has not yet detected any activity. The pixel will automatically become active once it starts receiving data such as:
- Page views
- Add to cart events
- Purchases
- Other website interactions
What You Should Do
- Make sure the pixel has been installed correctly in your store.
- Visit your website or ask someone to browse the store pages.
- Perform a few actions such as viewing products or adding items to the cart.
- Check Facebook Events Manager after a few minutes.
Once Facebook detects these events, the pixel status will automatically change from inactive to active.
Tip
You can also verify whether the pixel is working by using:
- Facebook Events Manager → Test Events
- Facebook Pixel Helper (Chrome extension)
These tools help confirm whether events are being sent from your website.
Still Not Working?
If the pixel remains inactive after receiving website traffic, please create a support ticket, and our support team will help investigate the issue.
